'Concubine' by Beirut, with Alma Har'el
Similar to a lot of Beirut's videos, I find this utterly escapist and like nothing else around at the moment. I sometimes find it hard to believe that Zach Condon's Beirut is actually American; it is that element of disbelief which makes me love it even more. His appreciation of world music and European culture shows through in an honest and very powerful way. 'Concubine', both its musicality and its cinematography, actually really reminds me of the composition in 'Little Miss Sunshine', with Sufjan Stevens behind the soundtrack.
September is working its way through our nerves and our veins; should you want to forget your entanglement with the grasps of Autumn - escape into Beirut.
